Intern Clinics

Snow Policy: Please check the Seattle Public Schools website for updates.

We follow the Seattle Public Schools' schedule for snow closures. If the Seattle schools are closed, SIOM is closed. If the schools open late, we will open on time to the best of our ability. When the schools close early, we generally will do the same, but may decide to stay open depending on weather conditions.

In the internship clinics, student interns provide care under the supervision of licensed faculty supervisors. There are several different kinds of clinic shifts available, which offer student interns a range of practice options while providing patients with a variety of acupuncture, herbal and massage approaches to meet their needs. For more information or to set up an appointment, please contact the clinic receptionist at (206) 517-4541.

Community Clinic and Tuina appointments can now be made on-line.

We have two locations for our clinics.  Most clinics are located at 444 NE Ravenna Blvd, Suite 208.  Our Community and Tuina clinics are located nearby at 520 NE Ravenna Blvd, Room 204.

SIOM's clinics follow the school's academic calendar.  Interns rotate between faculty supervisors and shifts, so please know that the intern schedule will change periodically. The clinic is closed during federal holidays and is also closed or has limited hours during the following school breaks:

Spring Break (closed or limited clinic hours):

April 14-April 29
Summer Break (closed or limited clinic hours):

August 11-September 3
Winter Break (closed) :

December 15 - January 6, 2013

Acupuncture and Chinese Herb Shifts –

In these intern clinics patients receive acupuncture treatments, herbal consults and other modalities and lifestyle advice as appropriate to the specific concerns of the patient.  These shifts provide quality care by sincere and well-trained student interns for the treatment of a full range of health concerns. Check the clinic schedule for times, names of supervisors and cost.

Tuina (Chinese Medical Massage) Shifts –

These intern shifts utilize a method of medical massage developed in China to promote overall relaxation and circulation, as well as to assist with specific health concerns.  Interns provide a 45 minute full body massage that is both invigorating and relaxing.   Check the clinic schedule for times, names of supervisors and cost.

Community Acupuncture Shifts –

These intern shifts provide acupuncture treatments in a group setting.  Patients are treated in an open room where they relax in lounge chairs while receiving acupuncture.  There may be up to six patients present in this group treatment setting.  These treatments provide an excellent way to release stress and calm your spirit – and are extremely affordable as well.

Japanese Acupuncture and Bodywork Shifts –

This intern shift provides Japanese styles of acupuncture, shiatsu (acupressure), and sotai (structural integration). Japanese approaches are gentle and relaxing and employ a wide range of acupuncture and warming techniques to induce relaxation, promote health, and relieve symptoms. Patients often receive advice on qigong and movement therapy in this clinic.

Auricular Acupuncture Shifts –

These intern shifts use a combination of Japanese acupuncture approaches and Ear acupuncture, an approach to diagnosis and treatment developed by French physicians.  This method of treatment can be very effective for pain relief, addictions, food sensitivities and a range of psycho-emotional concerns. Check the clinic schedule for times, names of supervisors and cost.
